Your views really matter. By listening to local people and those who represent them, the partnership can improve the decisions it makes and ensure it meets the health and care needs of Kirklees residents. Working together, we aim to share and build upon the good practice and approaches to involving people that exist in our partner organisations.
The partnership has adopted the West Yorkshire ICS involvement framework. We will also use the NHS England Statutory Guidance as a guide to how we can involve people in decision-making processes and engage them on plans for change.
Here are just the some of the ways local people in Kirklees are involved in our work:
Inclusive communities framework
Our Inclusive Communities Framework (ICF) has been produced in collaboration with the public and voluntary and community sector organisations. It articulates a set of core principles and approaches that partner organisations can use as a guide to improve inclusivity.
Community anchors
Community anchors are established, local organisations that:
- Help others by making connections and building trust
- Sustain and develop community activity
- Share information, resources and skills
- Provide practical help such as space, funds and help with policies and plans
- Help build organised, resilient, inclusive communities which support health
- Build, networks and relationships by supporting co-operation and partnerships.
You can find out more about community anchors on the TSL website.
Community voices
Community Voices are individuals working in the voluntary and community sector who engage with the local population on our behalf. By working with volunteers in this way, the response to our conversations has strengthened and increased, particularly among seldom heard groups. If you would like to know more or want to get involved in the programme, please visit the VAC website.
Community champions
Kirklees community champions are trusted and trained individuals with a desire and commitment to make a difference within their local community. As individuals recruited from within their local community, they have an ability to reach, engage and communicate with those Kirklees residents who may be disproportionately impacted by health inequalities.
The model of work adopted by community champions is flexible and based on trust. It empowers communities to deliver change in a way which is tailored to the needs of their communities and values local knowledge.
Engagement events
We aim to hold at least one public engagement event each year. These events will be open to all and include the opportunity to find out more about the work of the partnership, meet staff, and have your say. We will promote engagement events on the events page of our website, via social media and through community and voluntary sector organisations.
