Healthy Working Life schemes in Kirklees

The Kirklees schemes are part of Healthy Working Life, a joint programme of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board.

Created in consultation with residents and employers, Healthy Working Life will transform lives by offering personalised tailored support for people with health conditions and disabilities to access or keep good quality work.

Healthy Working Life aims to deliver the region’s work and health plan. Its vision for West Yorkshire to have the healthiest residents and workforce in England by 2040.

What are the Kirklees schemes?

The schemes are part of the West Yorkshire Work, Health, and Skills Plan to improve health, wellbeing and economic outcomes.

The vision is to have healthier residents by supporting people with health conditions and disabilities to access good quality work. This could in turn help reduce economic inactivity and health and socioeconomic inequalities.

In Kirklees the schemes include:

  • Elevate -a service for young people aged 18 to 26
  • Go Set Goal – coaching sessions for those who have left work due to ill health
  • Individual Placement Support for people with serious mental illness
  • Flippin Pain – a scheme about learning more about how people see and treat persistent pain
  • Supporting caring workers – Help employers identify, engage, support, and retain working carers within their workforce.

How will the Healthy Working Lives schemes be evaluated?

The long-term impacts of the Plan will be toimprove population health and wellbeing and economic outcomes.

We will know we have succeeded when we see more people enter, remain, and progress in good quality work.

Progress towards the objective will be measured and evaluated using defeined metrics. These have clear links to wider strategic priorities including the West Yorkshire Plan and Local Growth Plan.
