You can register with a GP by looking up your local practice and providing them with your medical card details. If you don’t have a medical card you should fill in form GMS1, which will be available at the surgery. Once you’ve been accepted as a patient, your medical records will be transferred to the new surgery and you will be sent a new medical card.
When registering with a GP it is a good idea to ask for an information leaflet about the surgery and its services and policies.

Evening and weekend appointments with a GP or nurse are available for any patient registered with a GP in Kirklees.
‘Pre-bookable’ and ‘on-the-day’ appointments can be accessed through your own GP practice or when your GP practice is closed, by calling NHS 111 for urgent non-life-threatening medical help.

For people registered with a GP practice in Greater Huddersfield
GP appointments are available in the Primary Care Centre hub at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
Appointment times are between 6.30pm and 8.30pm each weekday, with additional slots available on weekends between 8.45am and 5.15pm.
Some local GP practices also offer evening and weekend appointments so please check with your practice first.
Patients can also access physiotherapy appointments in the evening and on Saturdays. And blood tests are available on Saturdays between 9.00am-1.00pm.
For people registered with a GP practice in North Kirklees
GP appointments are available between 6.30pm and 9.30pm each weekday, with additional slots available on Saturdays from 9am until 4pm and Sundays from 9am until 1pm.
