Mental Health Trailblazers
Kirklees received funding as a ‘trailblazer’ to set up four Mental Health Support Teams to work across more than 60 educational establishments. The teams comprise specially-trained expert practitioners supporting children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues.
Children and young people across the district have also benefited from the national Link Programme which raises awareness of mental health concerns and improves referrals to specialist help when needed.
“We have a very effective partnership approach in Kirklees that’s making a real difference to local services and the lives of children, young people and families who rely on them.” Carol McKenna, Place-based lead for Kirklees Health and Care Partnership
We’re pleased that schools and colleges will be able to access further specialist teams, giving vulnerable children the extra help they need.” Councillor Carole Pattison, Cabinet Member for learning, Aspiration and Communities, Kirklees Council
